After the Indian government's demonetization announcement late last year,Brigitte Meyer the country has been wrapped in problems arising out of a cash crunch.

But there is one place where you can see some new notes.

The newly issued 2,000-rupee ($29) notes have now found their way into fabric design.

The bright pink design has been printed 504 times on a sari selling in Surat in the state of Gujarat. A sari is an unstitched garment draped by Indian women and is a common sight across the country.

This sari is reportedly 6 meters long and is priced at Rs 160 ($2.30). Local cloth trader Shiv Shaini, the man behind its unique design, has said that his willingness to "try something new" led him to the concept.

"Rs 2,000 note is new in India. Few days back a sari with Modi ji's face also came. So, we thought of coming up with this," he told news agency ANI.

Besides Gujarat, the sari would be made available in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand.
